The Chicago Yacht Club selected Weiss Architects to assist in a major renovation of the CYC Clubhouse at the foot of Monroe Street. The project included a complete renovation of the iconic Mackinac Room as well as gut renovations of adjacent toilet and service spaces. Renovations included a new bar, ceiling, lighting, finishes and ADA compliance enhancements. Working within the shell of the Clubhouse, the Mac Bar was reimaged to reflect both the mid-century modern aesthetic of the Clubhouse as well as a contemporary, highly trafficked social space. Through the use of African Mahogany millwork, limestone accents, bronze and glass, a visual relationship was developed with the nautical atmosphere of the Yacht Club.
